I am still laughing after your 5/8 performance @ the Irvine Improv. Thanks for the pictures with my sisters, brothers and mother afterward. I have an awesome picture of you (with us) if you'd like me to send it to you! You fit right in with all of the blonde! Thanks for keeping us laughing! It makes life a little easier to handle. -

Hey David,
My Name is John Parham. I live in LA and everywhere I go people come up to me and ask if I am David Alan Grier. If possible I would like to send you a picture of myself. I think you are a great artist and would love to be an intelligent part of your posse. -

h3y DAG, playing/acting the role of that great jazz legened "Thomas 'Fats' Waller" REALLy WOULD be a damn c00L gig man!..also, i think that in general, u have a charisma that DOES lend itself to roles of musicians---I JUST hope the DAMN shortsighted-producers-in-Holl ywood could get with it! p3ace0ut, rob -

I can't remember which dance it was but you wore a bowler hat in one of the routines on "Dancing With The Stars" and I thought I was looking at a photo of Thomas 'Fats' Waller, one of the greatest Jazz musicians this country ever produced. Have you ever considered playing the title role in his biography? Your background as a comic AND dramatic actor would be a perfect balance. (You might have to gain a pound... or twenty, though.)
Keep on keepin' on! -

David, your number one fan (I've watched you since you wore a kilt, and "hated it") is reporting some thing that upset me: RE: Black to the Future, mentioning Don Cornelius' SOUL TRAIN... to have that long haired Oriental as a focus is WRONG. She was one of the major changes in the second phase of SOUL TRAIN... the first phase ORIGINAL did not include her... a bunch of sisters and brothers from Pasadena and LA schools were bumping before it was fashionable: Taish Walsh (on cover of Norman Conner's magazine YOU ARE MY STARSHIP), Randy, Juliette Sutton (lesser known, but sat in same room with John Travolta on welcome back Kotter), Domita Jo (I got cha' danced her way into a Goldie Hawn movie). Who else cares about our youth, back then and now? ... Try to correct this when, as you can...please.(writertracy-tren d watcher and author of EXILED BY MY HAIRSTYLE) Bother's me at every juncture, intersection, crossroads, turn, when credit is always ===often, away from youth colored dark, unless it's tragedy or violent. Sincerely, fan writertracy, who'd love to give comedic comment as warranted. -

Dear David,
You are one of the best comedians in the world. I didn't know you were even on DWTS. I don't watch that show and I wish I had known you were on because I would have voted for you also my sister and my daughter because we all love you. I have seen your work so much and you always make me laugh. I have not seen the latest show because I work at night but my daughter tells me it is typical you funny, funny, funny.
David I think you are the greatest. -

DAG – You are such a loser. Even if the judges scored you unfairly, the lack of any fan support should tell you something. The look of defiance on your face when the judges were critiquing you was hilarious. The only person who didn’t think that you sucked…. was you... and the rest of the losers on this site. I for one am extremely happy that I do not have to watch you on DWTS anymore!
Thanks! -

Mr. Grier:
I just saw the clip of where you had voiced your opinion regarding the judging of DWTS and I must say - ITS ABOUT TIME!!!! Thank you for saying it out loud! You said what I've been thinking for the last 2 years! I'm a HUGE fan of DWTS and continue to watch regardless of how blatant the judges are - ESPECIALLY Carrie Ann. It fustrates me to no ends how she is allowed to show favoritism week after week.
I thought you and Kym were doing very well and I was very disappointed that you two were eliminated and I wanted you to know I voted for you every week.
I'm looking forward to seeing you two dance on the finale, I'm sure you'll be flawless and I hope you stick it to them!
Remember Karama never forgets.
Best,
Sharon -

Mr. Grier,
What happened to you on dancing with the stars is typical practice of the dance industry. I have taught dance for over 20 years. My credentials are @ NDCA.org, USISTD.org, and the ISTD U.K. website. The entertainment industry's culture cannot allow talent to outshine the elitist to which they pander. Your standard dancing was too good. A black man beating Fred Astaire at his own game is not a message that brings dollars in the door from the stiff rich whites that support the industry and are the age bracket relative to Elvis. You came too close and everybody saw it. You began to make the dance your own rather that a manageable product. Bribes and foul play are the norm, not the exception. My wife and I have had been rammed off the floor at competitions because she is not the "profile" they want to win (or at least expose the lack of talent of others). Judges have cornered us at competitions, stating that 'until you pay us, you will lose', and we have seen and heard the money change hands. Official complaints have been filed and little has been done. The bad guys outnumber the good guys. If we may be of assistance to expose the industry for what it is let us know. If you want justice, let us help you destroy the show with a better one. Or go all the way and displace the NDCA with an honest organization. Or just walk away like they want you to. -

David, I'm glad you told the TRUTH. You let them have it!!! That's what they needed to hear. CarryAnne especially was extra hard on you. I just don't get it. There is no way you should have left before the jackass guy, LT or the country guy. You were serious and you really put your all into your dances. It's like you were doomed before you even stepped on the floor. They kept knit picking at every little thing tht you did. I keep saying they have their favorites and this year it's really obvious. I voted for you every week. -

I was sorry to hear about your rant after your elimination. You should an absolute lack of class and you embarrassed yourself. You did a good job but you were eliminated. That is the nature of the show. Maybe you should look to your performance instead of attacking the judges. If you don't want to get judged don't go on shows like this. You acted like an ass. -

Hi David... I've never written before but i just have to tell you that I don't know what was up with the judges but I feel like they've underestimated almost all of your dances... especially the salsa. I'm a salsa dancer so i get very excited when that dance is on and i thought you did an awesome salsa for someone that only had a week to learn... and len goodman is clueless when comes to this dance because he only knows ballroom and this is not a ballroom dance... it was a true salsa with many distinctively "salsa" moves... and for him to say to shake your hips is ludacris because that only cheeses up the dance... just try not to feel bad because we all saw how hard you worked and how good you did even though the judges didn't... my bf said "wow, he looks ed" when you got eliminated.... and i don't blame you - but you did great!! -

David,
I was sorry to see you eliminated from the DWTS show last night. I thought you had a lot of style and grace in your dance (more than most of the men), and although I don't text, I did vote on our 2 cell phones and home phone for you. Thanks for bringing your special humor to the show--It will be greatly missed!!!
p.s. It was obvious that you were starting to lose those extra pounds, too (not that you really had that many!) ...Keep up the good work!! -

Hey David! I just wanted to say that I am sorry to see you go from DWTS!!!! I used all my phone and online votes for you. You were a joy to watch, and I agree with you that you were not judged fairly. You brought a smile to my face week after week, and you will certainly be missed!!!

Well Dave I am glad that you participated in DWTS. I watched tonight & hoped that the results of the dance off would have been a tie or that you would have survived. I don't watch too many of the reality competition shows because it's so intense & many times the more talented ones get the boot. I'd watch intermitently & your facial expressions seemed a little uptight, I don't if you were as relaxed as you wanted to be. I was rooting for ya & hope you'd mellow out & enjoy the dance & then I changed the channel (ha! ha!) But overall I must say, you took the plunge, you took the "double dog dare ya" challenge & as far as I am concerned you came out victorious, a winner! I think you reached your own personal goal & you reached a new milestone in your career. That is something you & your dance partner should be proud of. African americans attitude towards Ballroom dancing has had " A fish out of water" kind of overtone perhaps because we aren't seen participating in it via today's media. But when you look back into our history it's there. I guess our generation is kind of reconnecting to that aspect of our dance heritage. So now it's on to your next venture eh? Man you & Vivica Fox are 2 stars that have had tons of intermittent moments in the spotlight but they keep calling for you don't they! Stay blessed & keep making us laugh! But keep it clean now ya hear? smile -

David, Sorry to see you go from dwts. You were (and are) better, by far than Ty Murray or Lawrence Taylor, and you looked better tonight than Chuck too. You should have been in the finals. Seems to happen every season. A really good dancer gets booted off because the "fans" want to keep the Cloris Leachmans around. I hope Kym has the time to keep dancing with you, and that you are not too busy to keep dancing. Good job. Take care, Dan.
